Scholarship Winners Announced

 
Mountain View students Duran Long and Jaden Wiest were selected for academic excellence and extracurricular activities, while Marana High School senior, Caroline Richards, won the Howard and Mary Ann Tatum Scholarship for ethics and community service. 
 
Duran took rigorous advanced placement & college-level coursework while pursuing a STEM education.  Her extracurricular activities included women’s varsity basketball, first as team captain and then as a coach after a career-ending injury; and Orchestra Club as first-chair cello. She plans to study Marine Biology and Oceanography at the University of Miami in Florida.

Jaden also earned top marks while pursuing a STEM education. He has been on the men’s varsity volleyball team and he belonged to the Photography Club. He plans to study Engineering and continue volleyball athletics at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
 
Caroline, a straight-A student, is president of the Key Club and of the National Honor Society at the high school. She competes on the cross-country team and the math team, and she is the head of advocacy for an organization devoted to improving mental health on the campus. Caroline will be attending Utah State University where she plans to major in finance.
