About Our Club
The Rotary Club of Dove Mountain was founded in March 2006. Although our club is relatively small, we strive to be “mighty” and make a difference. We are a group of busy people trying to put our time, talents, and treasure together to make the world a little better tomorrow than it is today and have a great time while doing it!
Areas of focus: In-need individuals / families within our community, Youth, & Veterans; Club Service, Community Service, Vocational Service, & International Service.
Current Club goals:
- Implementing successful service projects to address the needs of our community as well as the communities of other countries.
- Increasing our membership base to facilitate ongoing & larger service projects.
- Supporting the Rotary Foundation through both program participation and financial contributions.
- Developing leaders capable of serving in Rotary at the club level and beyond.
Club Location: In the Dove Mountain area of Marana, Arizona. We are in the southern portion of the state, northwest of Tucson. The area is famous for beautiful skies and mountain views, endless hiking trails, and many golf courses.
Club Banner: The club banner was designed by Alexis Gibson, a student at the Marana Unified School District’s Mountain View High School. Alexis submitted the winning entry in a contest sponsored by our club. The banner highlights our namesake dove and depicts the Dove Mountain setting. The Tortolita Mountain range is in the background with a giant saguaro cactus as a prominent feature. The saguaro is only found in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona and its blossom is the state flower. The rock outcrop at the base of the cactus represents the state’s mineral deposits that contain gemstones as well as silver and copper ore. When describing her design, Alexis said that she chose the desert color pallet because it is the view that she enjoyed from her home patio each evening.
Club History: The organizational meetings which paved the way for the formation of the Dove Mountain Rotary Club began in the fall of 2005. The club was initially chartered in March 2006 and was sponsored by the Saddlebrooke Rotary Club. The charter night banquet was held April 6, 2006, at the Heritage Highlands Clubhouse. Since then, a number of "firsts", recognitions, and awards are a further part of the club history:
